Structure of the curriculum Business Economics and Management study programme
Undergraduate study programme in Business Economics and Management lasts four years (8 semesters), and contains 240ECTS in the field of humanities resulting in a Bachelor of Management degree.
The objective of this study programme is to educate the experts possessing knowledge and skills as required by job positions which require the basic knowledge in Business Economics and Management.
There are four modules within this study program: Accountancy and Business Finances, Marketing, Management, Tourism and Hotel Industry. These modules are selected following the completion of the first year of studies.
The contents of the programme, rules and procedures of studies, as well as the rights and obligations of students are listed in publicly available publications, provided by the faculty each academic year. These publications are also available in the electronic form.
The candidates are enrolled following a competition called by the University of Kragujevac and implemented by the Faculty of Economics.
Enrollment requirements as well as other important elements of the study programme are prescribed by the Statute, the Book of Rules and study procedures of the Faculty, the Book of Rules and study procedures of the University of Kragujevac.
The following methods are used in instruction: teaching, mentored work, mid-term exams, exams, study research work, final thesis.
Teaching comprises lectures, exercises, consultations, and mentoring. This type of activity involves continuous contacts with teachers and assistants. Lectures, exercises, and consultations are held each week within semesters, according to the time-table.
Study programme comprises obligatory and electives. They are grouped according to the following classification: general subjects, theoretical-methodological subjects, scientific-professional, professional-applicative subjects.
The first year includes eight courses, seven out which are obligatory, whereas one is selected out of the three electives. The second year includes eight courses, out of which two are electives, selected out of the pool comprising four elective courses. The third and the fourth years include eight courses respectively, six out which are obligatory, whereas two courses are electives, selected out of the five-course pool.
The purpose of this study programme
Globalization, permanent and rapid changes, technical advancement, technological innovations, demographic fluctuations, virtualization of working environment pose new challenges to educational systems. New times require not only new knowledge, but new value systems, experts able to respond to new challenges, as well.
The purpose of this study programme is to educate students of business economics at an undergraduate level, providing them with competencies related to performing professional management tasks and continuation of education within the European educational field.
Upon completion of the undergraduate study program of Economics, and obtaining 240 ECTS, a student may continue their education by enrolling in graduate academic studies, in Serbia or abroad, resulting in the corresponding graduate degree, because they are equipped with competencies enabling them to perform successfully at work or the next level of studies.
A contemporary study programme such as this one, enables students to perform successfully in the positions requiring them to demonstrate knowledge, skills and competences necessary for specific fields of business economics and management which assumes the usage of business cases, team work, and consultancies as provided by this study program.
Objectives of the study programme Business economics and management
Objectives of this study programme encompass specific skills and knowledge in line with the latest trends in the field of Business Economics and Management at the undergraduate level.
A student is capable of obtaining managerial skills and knowledge necessary for managing a firm, bank, educational institutions, institutions of culture, health, public services, governmental agencies and other institutions.
The objectives of this study programme are as follows:

- applying different tools and techniques of effective management
- obtaining knowledge and skills in the field of strategic management
- obtaining basic knowledge in the field of marketing as a market-oriented business philosophy
- understanding the concept and strategy of contemporary research, creating, planning, monitoring, and controlling the market success based on the marketing business philosophy
- understanding concepts, techniques and tools used in the process of planning, organizing, management and monitoring of international business processes
- understanding the influence of global, legal, socio-cultural, ecological, and ethical influences of international environment on enterprise performance
- understanding and acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of accountancy and audit
- application of accounting and audit methods, techniques, and performance in business practice
- understanding accounting system functions, accountancy method for the realization of business performances, and consolidation methods
- analyzing financial reports, techniques, business plan creation, application of audit methods, and procedures of analyzing internal control system functioning
- expanding knowledge in the field of specific accounting systems such as commerce accounting, tourism, banks, and insurance companies

By attending this study program, students acquire a wide basis of knowledge and skills in the field of Business Economics and Management which enables them to responsibly manage and coordinate complex business activities, creative management and organization problem solving, as well as strategic disposal with enterprise potentials, etc.
Competencies acquired within the study programme of Business Economics and Management
This study programme is defined in such manner that by completing it students acquire specific competencies which enable them to solve complex organizational and managerial issues.
The competencies students acquire upon completion of this study programme are as follows:
- adopting methodological, basic economic and scientific disciplines particularly those in field of management and business economics
- successful performance of activities in the field of strategic management, marketing communication, product , service, pricing, sales, distribution, public relations, logistics, market research development
- creative usage of contemporary information and communication technologies
- ability to conduct managerial and analytical tasks in the fields of tourist market research, tourism management, hotel industry management, agency performance, etc.
- ability to conduct tasks related to complex accountancy, auditing, financial management and other activities

Upon graduation, students are able to work at all sectors of economy: financial sectors (banks, insurance companies, investment and pension funds), for-profit sectors (product, sales, and service industry), auditors, public sector, etc.
